Buenos Aires, Argentina. Social isolation in Argentina has been in effect for a month and the quarantine continues, here as well as around the world.  TV, film and programs on the internet have become the salvation for many in confinement, and so here are some titles as well as suggestions for Basque films on digital platforms sent us by two readers in Buenos Aires.

On Netflix you can find a pretty varied selection of Basque film in Euskera with subtiltes including for example Errementari. El herrero y el diablo (2017), and award winning films “Loreak (2014) and “Handia” (2017). In Spanish there are dramas worth mentioning like “El árbol de la sangre” (2018), “El hoyo” (2019) and “La trinchera infinita” (2019). Among these "El hoyo", (The Platform) directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, has become one of the most watched titles on Netflix around the world.

There are also two Basque themed comedies with La pequeña Suiza” (2019) and “Fe de etarras” (2017).

For fans of police shows we recommend El guardián invisible” (2017), “El silencio de la ciudad blanca” (2019) and the series filmed in Bizkaia “La víctima número 8” (2018). We should also mention the documentary “El fin de ETA” (2016) and films by Alex de la Iglesia, also available on this platform (“El bar” y “Perfectos desconocidos”, 2017).

Also added this week was "El legado en los huesos" (2019), the second part of the Triology of Baztan after "El guardián invisible".

For those who prefer film in Basque, the experiment launched on Uruguay’s Facebook “Noticias Vascas”, through its YouTube channel “Eusko gudariak,” downloading films like Zirgariak” (2006) and “Kutsidazu bidea Ixabel” (2006), both with Spanish subtitles.

There are many more resources but don’t forget ETB and Nahieran, with a world of movies, programs, documentaries, cartoons, etc.

We thank Maria Laura and Jon for their suggestions.  Anyone wishing to share more please do so in the comment section or email to our info address.
