The Laurak Bat Basque Club inaugurates the 1st Communities Youth Conference in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, Argentina. The activity organized by the Government of the federal capital of Argentina, took place last Saturday and Sunday June 22-23, and gathered some 140 youth between the ages of 18-35 from various foreign communities that live in he capital city.  Coordinated in its entirety by the city’s executive it was the first aimed especially at this age group to “create innovative tools that guarantee the transfer of our diverse cultures through the generations, within a framework of integration and coexistence.”

The first day consisted of a workshop with games and group activities that allowed to identify the various realities that are experienced in the institutions.  The second day’s activities took place at the Recoleta Cultural Center and included conclusions and the closing of the conference along with the presentation of certificates to the attendees.  

The Basque community was part of the conference thanks to youth from the Laurak Bat Basque Club who are also part of the local Communities Youth Network. The participants evaluation of the project was positive “for the exchange of experiences between communities and the bonds that are created at such a meeting,” Arantxa Anitua, Laurak Bat’s president told EuskalKultural.com (conference photos here).
