They will begin arriving in the Basque Country on Saturday; and their first tour of Bilbao and Vitoria-Gasteiz will take place on Sunday for a Monday start of the first work sessions of Gaztemundu 2015 focused, as in all years that coincide with the World Congress of Basque Collectivities, on cultural and organizational management of Basque clubs.  At the end of Gaztemundu, October 6th, the 15 participants will then join the World Congress where they will participate vocally but without a vote, which is reserved for elected representatives from each country.

Vitoria-Gasteiz.   Just days remain before the beginning of the World Congress of Basque Collectivities and tomorrow marks the day when fifteen Gaztemundu participants will leave their respective countries to participate in the 2015 program.  Gaztemundu is organized by the Directorate of the Basque Community Abroad and is dedicated annually to youth from Basque clubs around the world, focussing on a different topic every year.  This year will be cultural and organizational management of Basque clubs and associations.

Some of the topics that Gaztemundu will cover include: criteria for programming and citizen participation, communication and social media, culture and Basque cultural activity in the 21st century, cultural heritage, the participation of women in Basque culture, the linguistic community, linguistic ecology and empowerment, leading Basque clubs in general, character and club goals, long-term goals and the importance of work, collective initiatives, design, planning and evaluation of projects, empowering new generations.

Courses will take place every morning and afternoons will be dedicated to complimentary activities and visiting some emblematic places in the country, since a large number of the participants have never been to the Basque Country before.  They will also be welcomed by Lehendakari Urkullu and will participate in the World Congress of Basque Communities that will conclude on Friday, October 9, and most will return home on Saturday the 10th.
