Members of the Euskal Txokoa are enthusiastically planning their trip to Macachin for what will be the club’s first Semana Nacional Vasca (Basque Argentinean National Week).  Along with this great news, the club also let us know that it will host its second Taberna night in September, and in October it will host the “Transforming Looks” exhibit.

San Martin de los Andes, Argentina.  In July this new Basque club, located in San Martin de los Andes in Patagonia, celebrated its first year of life.  They did so by gathering more than half hundred people who renewed their commitment to continue growing in hopes of spreading the Basque culture in the region. Besides getting together to blow out candles and to make toasts, those present also talked about future projects.

September

Towards the end of the month, the Euskal Txokoa will organize a second Taberna Night that will include special visits.  As Manuel Bustingorry, club president, told EuskalKultura.com, “we are very happy that we will have the dantzaris from the Union Vasca in Bahia Blanca here with us, as well as the ever important support of a delegation of chefs of the gastronomy group of the Euskal Etxea Basque Club of San Nicolas, leaded by club president Damian Cebey”.  This event will take place on September 26, at 9:30pm in the Gendarmeria's Hall, in Gral. Roca and Rivadavia.

October

Continuing the program of activities, during the month of October the club will host the traveling exhibit “Transforming Looks” that is moving through various Basque clubs in the country, with the support of the Delegation of the Basque Government in Argentina. The exhibit, that includes some of the awareness-raising campaign driven by Emakunde  (Basque Institute of the Woman) to promote gender equality, will be part of the Regional Book Fair in San Martin de los Andes and will be open from October 7-12 in the Municipal Exhibition Hall.

Finally, Euskal Txokoa is proud to let us know, happily, that a group from the club will traveli n October to Macachin to participate in the Semana Nacional Vasca.  “Even if the group is small, we are very happy to be present and to strengthen ties with the rest of the Basque clubs across the country," Bustingorry told EuskalKultura.com.
