Donostia-San Sebastián. Along with events in Euskal Herria, and those organized by Basque clubs and communities around the world, the international network of university lecturers from the Etxepare Institute comprise the third pillar of the initiative that contributes annually to the success of International Euskera Day (ENE) celebrations.  A large part of the lecturers at Etxepare have joined in, for another year to celebrate ENE; and it is also worth mentioning that their network includes some 1,800 students studying Basque language and culture in 29 universities all over the world.

Some of the events and proposals for ENE 2019, Euskararen Nazioarteko Eguna, or International Euskera Day:

18:30 Opening of photo exhibit “Basque places of Idaho”.
The University organized a photo contest on Basque places in Idaho where participants should send photos between December 1-15th, winners will be exhibited in the gallery in the Student Union Building. On December 3, coinciding with ENE the exhibit will be inaugurated accompanied by refreshments.

MEXICO CITY (Mexico)

19:00 Final rally of theater based on Basque literature.
UNAM organized a contest of theater based on the stories “The Birthday,” and “You don’t Notice anything Strange by Eider Rodriguez.  After a month of deliberation, the jury selected the top 3 works that can be seen at this event, along with the awards ceremony.
Visit by Eider Rodriguez + colloquium The writer will also take advantage of her visit to attend the FIL Guadalajara.

CHICAGO (Illinois)

Before the talk there will be a chance to make pintxos.  Participants will make pintxos and name them after important women of Basque culture.

Throughout the month of November there will be workshops in various Basque practices thanks to the lecturer.  At the December 5th event, Basque the student body will have the opportunity to practice what they have learned in the workshops.

Thanks to professor and researcher from the University of the Basque Country, the first activity will be the screening of the short “What is Bertsolaritza? From there will be a practical Bertsolaritza workshop, and to conclude, students will work on comparing Basque song and Bertsolaritza.

University students, in collaboration with five Basque students with Erasmus, will create posters on Basque themes Basque mythology, origin of Euskera, bertsolaritza…with explanation in four languages (Euskera, Spanish, Polish and English).
15:00 Projection of shorts by Kimuak.
Different shorts will be shown from different editions: Zela Trovke (Asier Altuna), Txotx (Asier Altuna, Telmo Esnal), Zeinek gehiago iraun (Gregorio Muro) and Beerbug (Ander Mendia).
Followed by a talk in Polish moderated by Basque-Polish Professor at the Gdansk University, Kaisa Migros.

19:30 Roundtable: digital content of marginalized groups and minority languages.  Participants: the creators of the Basque web series Puntu Koma, director of the Polish platform Outfilm, and a member of the LGTBIQ + collective.
Followed by a presentation by Alicia Jankowiak about the online platform Baskijski: Basque course online for Polish speakers.
