At the heart of its efforts to introduce and spread the Basque culture abroad, the Etxepare Basque Institute has started the selection of Basque language and culture lecturers for the National University of La Plata (UNLP), in Argentina; and the Eotvos Lorand in Budapest (ELTE) and the University of Szeged, in Hungary. The people selected will be in place by March 14th in Argentina and by January 15th in Hungary. The deadline to apply is December 21 by email or at the Etxepare headquarters, among other avenues.

Donostia-San Sebastian.  The Etxepare Basque Institute is in the process of selecting two Basque language and culture lecturers for the National University of La Plata (UNLP) in Argentina and the Eotvos Lorand in Budapest (ELTE) and the University of Szeged in Hungary. 

People hoping to apply should have a university degree, preferable in Basque philology or Basque Studies or in Translation and Interpretation (Language A: Euskera).  If you don’t hold the above mentioned qualifications, you must have a PL3 or equivalent degree.

In La Plata the position requires 9 class hours a week with a salary of 20,000 Euros for the academic year (net salary is approximately 10,000 Euros).

At the Univrsity of Eotvos Lorand (ELTE) in Budapest and the University of Szeged, the position requires fours a week at each institution.  The salary is 8,500 Euros per academic year.  The person selected for the two universities will have the option to increase his/her hours by teaching courses in Spanish language and culture.  The university will also provide a housing subsidy for the person selected. 

The person will need to be in place by March 1, 2014 in La Plata and work through the end of the 2014 academic year with the possibility of extending.

At the universities in Hungary the lecturer will need to be ready to go by January 15th and will begin classes at the beginning of February.  He/she will be expected to work through the end of the 2013-14 academic year with the possibility of extending.
