The Centro Navarro in Buenos Aires celebrated its 119th anniversary along with the Chacabuco Basque Club

Returning the visit paid by the Navarran Basque club to the Guillermo Larregui club on its first Dantzari Get-Together, the Chacabuco Basque club participated with its dance group at the Navarran institution’s birthday.  With dancing, live music and a tempting menu, the festivities that was a preview of what will be in store for the 120th anniversary of the Centro Navarro in Buenos Aires that will take place next year. 

Buenos Aires, Argentina.  The century-old Navarran club located in the Almagro neighborhood of the capital was decorated once again, this time to celebrate its new birthday.  The event was attended by a delegation for the Guillermo Larregui Basque club in Chacabuco, the host club of the first Dantzari Get-Together co-organized by both institutions.

Performances began in the club’s trinquete, before snacking on ham, cheese and wine.  The adult group, directed by Maria del Mar Alderete Roque, presented LesacaFandango de TudelaGraciosa and Morena and the Basque Jota. The children, on the other hand, presented Olague and Zapatero, while the older kids from Chacabuco did Agurra, Arcos mixtos and Neskatxena.

After the dance performances a kalejira took guests to the first floor where lunch was served.  During the meal the club president, Esteban Kordich, invited members and friends of the club to get ready for the big festivities that will take place in 2015, when they will celebrate their 120th year of the foundation of the institution.  Gifts were also exchanged during the meal between the two clubs, and the president of Guillermo Larregui, Pablo Pavesa, referred to the bond of friendship that exists between the two institutions.

The party lasted into the afternoon with live music by Andayna, a Iberian Folk group with gaitas and drums who played pasodobles and some “jauzis,” among other pieces.
