Chivilcoy, Argentina. The Basque club in Chivilcoy is among the many that have had to celebrate its anniversary virtually due to the Coronavirus. The cancellation of the event leaves a large void in the club’s annual program of activities, but not in the hearts of its members and friends, who have the opportunity to accompany Beti Aurrera as usual by following their publications on social media.
Throughout the week the Basque club has uploaded video compilations to Facebook and Instagram, from each of its areas compiled by club member, Mica Trusso. Communications are also sent via WhatsApp and email. The inaugural video includes and address by club president, Alberto Mindequia, along with two members raising the flags of Argentina and the Ikurriña on the flagpole in front of the clubhouse.

New contents uploaded daily will include dances, a tour of the 15 years of the club’s dance group directed by Nelba Calonge, Euskera, film, coking, sports, literature and the history of Beti Aurrera. There will also be a video with greetings from friends from afar on the occasion of the anniversary and will conlude with the poem ‘Nire Aitaren etxea’ (My Father’s House) by Basque poet Gabriel Aresti.
The Basque club also invites members and friends for a toast on Friday, July 10th at 8m on zoom (Meeting ID: 742 4982 1341, Password: chivilcoy, no caps).
