The Basque Government will publish the call for applications for Gaztemundu 2013 on Thursday

the Basque Government has announced that it will publish the call for the Gaztemundu 2013 program this Thursday, June 20th. This year the program will be dedicated to form musicians and music teachers for the Basque Centers. Gaztemundu is directed to young people, 18 and older (no age limit). The deadline for applications will be on July 21st, 2013.

Vitoria-Gasteiz. This years edition of Gaztemundu will take place in Euskal Herria from August 31st to September 14th. The young participants selected for this training program will reinforce their knowledge of the traditional Basque instruments and music.

The call for applications will be published in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country on June 20th. The deadline for applications is July 21st.

The requirements to participate are:

1) To be 18 years old, or older
2) Live outside of the Basque Country
3) Be a member of a Basque club recognized by the Basque Government for a minimum of three years
4) Documentary evidence of musical knowledge 5) Have not previously participated in Gaztemundu

Documents to be submitted:

1) The completed and signed convocation form. (The form is on the last page of the call, p. No. 5 Gaztemundu call 203.pdf File)
2) Copy of passport or identification card which proves age and place of residency
3) Certification of the Basque Center, details:

-a. The status of shareholder or partner, with a minimum of three years.
-b. Basque Center assumes the responsibility to reimburse the expenses incurred by the person awarded in case of breach of obligations.
-c. A report on the degree of participation of the person concerned, in the life of the Basque Center
-d. Two minute musical video recording of good quality where individual execution of an instrument by the Basque native or aspiring
-e. Proof of knowledge of Basque

The announcement, additional details, and the form will be released on Thursday, June 20th.

Questions and submission of the application should be directed to the Directorate for Basque Community Aboard. There are various offices of the Basque Government in different cities and counties, such as, Buenos Aires, New York, Mexico City, Santiago Chile, and Brussels Bogota.
