Vitoria-Gasteiz. The Basque Government’s Council approved the budgets last Tuesday for the 2019 Gaztemundu program as well as grants to assist individuals in the worlwide Basque community in situations of extreme need. Only a few days remain for these to be in force, once they are published in the Official Bulletin of the Basque Country that will open the application period for both.
This measure of advanced processing is a breakthrough, and aims to facilitate Basque clubs in addressing the year in a more standardized way at the heart of Basque communities and their institutions. It also fulfills a promise made last year by Director of the Basque Community Abroad, Gorka Alvarez Aranburu.
The efforts of the directorate led by Alvarez Aranburu have been received with great satisfaction in the first survey in which EuskalKultura.com has informed and asked people in charge of Euskal Etxea their opinion on the matter.
A second change has also take place in regards to the deadlines to apply for each program. More information will be made available on each shortly, once published in the EHAA-BOPV.
-The deadline to apply for Gaztemundu 2019 will be March 25, 2019
-The deadline for those in extreme need is April 26, 2019
With all of this information, planning for the upcoming year will be much more orderly and predictable for Basque clubs and entities in the Diaspora. We will keep you informed.
