Ontario, OR.  The Ontario Euskal Etxea has prepared a great festival for this Sunday to celebrate Saint Michael.  Festivities will begin at 1:3pm in the Moore Park with mass celebrated by Fr. Thomas Mudakodiyil where he will also bless a statue of the saint.  Following, ezpata dantza will be performed in the Saint’s honor. 

Everyone will then be invited to process from the park to the clubhouse where there will be dance and rural sports exhibitions (sokatira and txingas).  There will also be various contests including a tortilla cooking contest, a txaplea and abarketa toss as well as an irrintzi contest.  There will also be a Basque dance workshop for anyone interested in dancing.  There will also be food and refreshments for sale throughout the day.

The event will conclude with a concert by Kalakan at 5pm.  Kalakan is formed by Thierry Biscary, Jamixel Bereau and Xan Errotaberhere who will perform their repertoire of traditional Basque songs mixed with modern rhythms.
