Buenos Aires, Argentina. The three options come from Basque clubs in the province of Buenos Aires and aim to continue what has become a tradition.  They begun years ago, and Mariana Dominé, from Euskaldunak Denak Bat Basque Club in Arrecifes; Pablo Pavesa from the Guillermo Larregui Basque Club in Chascomus; and the Itxaropena Basque Club in Saladillo through Silvina Bordenave, keep organizing and promoting and carrying out group trips to the Basque Country.

In 2020, in the words of the three references, the economic panorama in Argentina is “complex in order to guarantee long-term certainty of prizes," but they are optimistic and "why not?."  Thanks to this somewhat stubborn outlook the Basques again launch proposals that include tours of Euskal Herria as well as the possibility of opting for a second destination.

August, Euskal Herria and Catalonia

The option proposed by Mariana Dominé Irigoyen would depart on August 21 from Ezeiza, returning on September 3rd. The tour of Euskal Herria would last 14 days covering Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, Nafarroa, and Araba as well as towns and places in Iparralde. The package includes airfare, some meals, admission to cultural and recreational sites, specialized guides, top-notch buses and hotels. For more information write mdomine2002@hotmail.com.

As something new, this year this trip includes the possibility of extending the trip to travel to Barcelona for 4 days.

September, Euskal Herria and Israel

From the Chacabuco Basque Club, Pablo Pavesa announced that the first information and meeting for the trip will be in January 21st at the clubhouse, and estimated travel date would be at the end of September. This option includes destinations in Euskal Herria for 10 days, with visits to Bilbao, Gernika, Bermeo; Donostia, Gasteiz, Lekunberri, Oñati, Hondarribia, Iruña-Pamplona as well as some outings to Iparralde; the second destination would be a week in Israel. September, Euskal Herria

The Itxaropen Basque Club in Saladillo is also organizing another group trip in September when the economic situation is guaranteed.  “If we have enough interested people we will go ahead,” Silvina Bordenave told EuskalKultura.eus.

The departure would be in September and the itinerary would be similar to previous trips.  This includes two weeks allowing travelers to get to know the towns and cities on both sides of the Pyrenees.  They will attend festivals and events like estropadak/regattas in Donostia and the Basque festivities in Zarautz…to mention a few. Outings in Euskal Herria will be organized by Bask in Motion, a Basque agency specialized in group travel with Basques from the Diaspora.  For more information write itxaropena98@gmail.com.

Remember, you don’t have to be a member of any of these Basque clubs in order to participate in any of the trips.  The only condition is having a current passport and much desire to have a good time.  Bidaia on, bon voyage friends!
