Literaldia is the festival of Basque literature organized annually in Barcelona by the local Basque club and its 2016 edition will begin tomorrow,  During the entire month of April Basque writers, poets, and storytellers will be passing through the city.  But in addition to the festival they will continue opening new roads, and invited urban poets and improvisers like bertsolaris and hip hop singers.  See the complete program. 

Barcelona, Catalonia.  A new year, and another edition of Literaldia will take place. The Catalan festival of Basque literature is organized annually in April by the Barcelona Basque club to coincide with the Day of the Book and the Sant Jordi festivities. This edition the festival includes a large program of activities that besides literature will also include other areas like music and illustration as well as multidisciplinary creations.

The festival will run through April 29, converting the Euskal Etxea into a showcase for current Basque literature, with well-known voices and some new authors yet to be discovered.  Here is the program:

April 1, Friday

Story tellers: "Les aventures de l’avi Eusebi -Aitona Euxebioren abenturak” (The adventures of Eusebi)
With Aitor Vinagret and Noemí Delgado. In Catalan and Euskera. Free.

April 7, Thursday

Inauguration and exposition by Igotz Ziarreta: "Nosaltres els bascos"
At the Esquerra del Eixample-Agustí Centelles Library. At 19:00. Free.

April 9, Saturday

Abesti bat gutxiago. Nola egin bertso bat bidean galdu gabe. (One song less.  How to create a bertso without getting lost along the way)
Musical talk with Harkaitz Cano, Rafa Rueda and Oier Aranzabal. At 20:00. Free.

April 15, Friday

Alliberem Ashraf Fayadah
Poetic recital in solidarity with Palestinian poet Ashraf Fayadh, who was condemned to 8 years in prison and 800 lashing for supporting atheism in his poetry.  At 20:00. Free.

April 21, Thursday 

Hitzetik kantura. Bertso saioa (From words to song) Bertsolari session
With bertsolaris Unai Gaztelumendi and Ane Labaka. At the Official School of Languages. At 18:00. Free.
