Corpus Christi, Argentina. In the area, street furniture had already been attacked before and this time, the allegorical work of art, produced by a workshop organized by Eusko Etxe in Corpus, coordinated by artist Valeria Garibotti with members of the Basque club has now been damaged with graffiti. Although the monument belongs to the city, the club has pressed charges according to club sources in the local daily Primera Edicion.

The art work, that is also a mural, was inaugurated last July as part of the Argentine Basque-Guarani Festival in Corpus.  It was installed at the intersection of Jesuits and Suiza Streets, in the Basque Plazoleta or Basque Square. The idea for the work, as well as its creation was part of the club’s San Ignacio activities that it carries out annually.

In a few days, Corpus Christi will receive the visit of some 20 people from Euskal Herria (Eskoriatza and Arrasate) and the plan was to visit the monument.  The group will visit the club and will meet the board as well as club members as well as members of the Guarani community in the area, as the Basque club shares various initiatives throughout the year with local indigenous peoples.
