Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea-Centro Vasco Francés in Buenos Aires has not let these long months of the pandemic pass in vain and is now coming out with two books, one that includes award-winning works from its literary contest.  The second, includes a review of the internal history of the entity, investigating the minutes and reports, membership, and bringing to light data from everyone who has been part of the club since its founding in 1895 compiled by Norma Beatriz Rios, secretary of the Board of Directors since 2004, and a great cultural activist in the club.

The first volume includes works awarded in the literary contest organized by the club that is now in its 6th edition, with stories and narrations corresponding to the last three editions o the contest: that of 2016 entitled, “My Feelings,” that of 2019 entitled, “What the Basques Told Me,” and that of 2020 called “Emotions.”

Data on all the members of the Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea

The second volume entitled, “The Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea, 1895-1945 Membership” is the fruit of research done by Norma Beatriz Rios who dove into the club’s archives and records for years. Norma said “it is written with feeling and emotion,” that this club that it's her second home and she has been connected to for the last three decades inspires in her.

Her work completing the book has been like an ant’s work, it took a lot of time. It will be very valuable for researchers as it includes names and complete data of all who made up the entity.  This book includes each member’s name, birthplace, profession, member number, year that they joined, and date of death through 1945. If she succeeds in finding financing, another two volumes will follow until reaching 2020. Mila esker, Norma!
