A South American tour by the Basque musician will begin this Wednesday that will provide both educational and artistic offerings. Throughout his tour Iñaki Etxepare will present his book Pedagogy of the Cello and will perform Bach and the Sea and in some cases, in activities organized by Basque clubs in the cities he will visit. The tour will begin on November 21 at the Euzko Etxea in Santiago Chile and will conclude on December 2, in Puerto Alegre, Brazil. During his time in Argentina, he will perform in Mendoza (TBA), San Juan and Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires, Argentina. After being forced to postpone the tour that was originally planned last August, Iñaki Etxepare will visit South America during the next few days.  Starting tomorrow, hectic days and varied landscapes await the Basque musician (Irun, 1971), who will travel with two purposes through the Southern Cone.

One objective is in regards to teaching the cello, and it should be noted that Etxepare will present his book Pedagogy of the Cello described by some “a well-structured compendium of ideas and details of great utility for professional cellists, teachers and beginners.”  “He gathers every kind of technique and pedagogy, from how to give the first class to resolving technical problems, including very valuable information on lutherie, instrument maintenance and teaching methods (…).” “The enclosed DVD is especially useful with images, examples and demonstrations that facilitate greatly the comprehension of his most important explanations.”

In the same way, Etxepare’s presence is awaited by musicians and music lovers to enjoy the show Bach and the Sea defined as a piece that blends multiple disciplines.  In his words, “The six suites of Johann Sebastian Bach for the cello mingle with nature, crafts, gastronomy, sport, history and the sea through contemporary dance.  The meaning of the name “Bach” is, in German, “stream.” He on the other hand, never got to the sea since he spent his life within 100 km. between the cities of Eisenach, Köthen, Leipzig…Now, through the suites we want to take at least one drop of Bach to the sea…” he said.

During the next few days Etxepare will make contacts in Basque clubs and with local artists.  The tour will begin on Wednesday whose program follows:
