The group Gose performed its first US tour on November 5-12 with concerts in San Francisco and Boise. Their performance at the San Francisco Cultural Center took place as part of BEO’s Nafarroaren Eguna and they also performed at Boise’s Basque club. They also held two more concerts in California, outside of the Basque circuit, and they told EuskalKultura.com how surprised they were by how well received their music was, a fusion of trikitixa and electronic, in all four instances.

Donostia-San Sebastian.  The group Gose performed a mini tour in the US in the beginning of November, having offered four concerts between California and Idaho.  The first one took place on November 5th at the Nafarroaren Eguna organized by the Basque Educational Organization and held at the Basque Cultural Center in San Francisco.  “We were first invited to perform in San Francisco and because of that we contacted Boise and were given an opportunity to perform there as well,” Ines, the group’s lead singer, told EuskalKultura.com.  She also added that “they felt at home.”

This trip erased any preconceived ideas that they may have had about the Diaspora:  “at first we were a little afraid, because we weren’t sure how they would like our music.  Ours isn’t the trikitixa, we don’t play fandangos.  But nevertheless were felt very welcomed by the young and old alike,” said Ines, who besides being lead singer, also plays the accordion, that the group fuses with electronic and rock music, with a totally modern attitude.

The singer emphasized how surprised they were by the welcomes everywhere, including those outside of the Basque clubs.  On November 6th they played at the Plough and Stars room in San Francisco and on the 7th at the Sub-Mission Art Space.  “The Mission district of San Francisco is very Latin, but they received our music very well," Ines said." We have to rid ourselves of the complex we have to sing in Euskera. The language is never a barrier, on the contrary, as a means of communication it can only break those boundaries."
