For the first time, the Trinquete at the Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea was the site for the “Tournament of Basque Clubs” of Buenos Aires

Supported by a new group of pilotaris at the club who organized the championship, the Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea in Buenos Aires hosted and won the latest “Tournament of Basque Clubs” in Buenos Aires that included the participation of teams from the Centro Navarro and the Gure Echea Basque club.  Along with this news, the Subcomission of Culture invites everyone to the “Biperrren Pesta” or Pepper Festival on October 25th. 

Buenos Aires,Argentina.  The “Basque Club Paleta Tournament” was played for the first time at the Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea in Buenos Aires.  Two teams from the hosting club participated -- Germán Schell-Andrés Velasco and Ferraris del Sel-Nahuel Seve r-- and two visitors -- Sebastian Mihura-Francisco Recalde and Roberto Elias-Miguel Coluccio -- from the Centro Navarro and the Gure Echea Basque club respectively. 

The winners were Schell and Velasco, representing the Iparraldeko club, leaving the second place position to the pelotaris from the Centro Navarro.  The trophy and medals were presented at a BBQ held for the participants that was also attended by the president of the institution, Cornejo Saravia.

The event was organized by the Subcommitte of Culture. Norma Rios who highlights the commitment of “a large group of Young pelota players, thanks to who the tournament was made possible, since they organized it all, medals, trophies and even the t-shirt designs. And above all, the huge effort by Ignacio Montiel.  It was a great pleasure for us all,” Rios told EuskalKultura.com.

Pepper Festival in Buenos Aires

As every year, the Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea will once again host the local version of the “Biperraren Pesta” or Espelette Pepper Festival.  The event will take place on October 25th starting at 21:30 at the Center, with a menu that includes entrée of chicken and rice with peppers, dessert, and beverages for $120.  There will also be dancing and music along with the traditional raffles throughout the evening.  Tickets can be reserved until Friday the 17th.
