Would you like to get to know the Basque Diaspora this summer?  What do you know about Basque-American youth?  The contest, “GOazen Boisera” is looking for individuals who are ready to go to Jaialdi in Boise.  Its mission will be to report on the festivities on the Gazteaukera blog and relay opinions of young American people of Basque descent.  If you are a good communicator and would like to become a blogger at Jaialdi this is your chance!

Donostia-San Sebastian.   Every five years,  Jaialdi is celebrated in Boise, Idaho.  The event gathers representatives of Basque clubs from all over the world along with many visitors.  Over six days the streets of Boise are filled with Basque folklore, bertsolaris, dantzaris, rural sports, concerts etc.  This year, Jaialdi will be held July 28-August 2.

The guidance and counseling Service GazteBizHitza has launched a contest to send two people to the festivities.  Chosen individuals are expected to report on the event as bloggers. You need to be registered in Araba, Bizkaia or Gipuzkoa to participate.

Mission

-The two individuals chosen will be the chroniclers of Jaialdi.

-Among their tasks: writing daily on the event on the Gazteaukera blog, taking photos, and videos, etc.

-They should also help in spreading the initiative on social media and other types of communication.

How to participate?

Interested persons need to show their narrative capabilities and their interest.  In order to do so, they should choose one of these themes and write (chronicle, report or fiction) or make a video: Youth and Studies, Youth and Work, Youth and Housing, or whatever any combination of the above (ie, Youth, Studies and Work).

To participate choose one of the three:

1.  a two-page text,  word or pdf (same text written in two languages).  Style, chronicle, report or fiction.  The texts need to be sent in Euskera (one or two pages long) and Spanish (one or two pages long) the same text in both languages), since chosen individuals have to report in both languages.

2.  A video between 2 and 5 minutes maximum in the following formats avi, mov o mp4.  Videos should mix both languages (if there is dialogue) if possible (no subtitles).  Any music can be used in the video as well as it is licensed as free use or Creative Commons so that published works can be put on the internet.  There are various songs available here with these permissions.
