Madrid, Spain. This school year has come to a close, and after summer (in the northern hemisphere), another will begin.  If you live in Madrid, maybe you have thought about taking advantage of the various options that exist in the Spanish capital to learn Basque. They are varied and rage from beginners to advanced, in person or virtual.  Here is information on three options to tempt you and help you make this next course a possibility for you. It is worth it!

Madrid Euskal Etxea. Offers courses of 4 hours a week in person, in groups of only 12 people, beginning and other levels are available.  The course will begin on October 4h on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or Mondays and Wednesdays depending on the level, through June of 2022.  They provide access to the BOGA program to accompany online.  They also have a total online option.  Enroll at the Basque Club’s office beginning on September 2nd.  Spots for in person classes is limited and so enrollment is encouraged as soon as possible as it is on a first come first served basis.

Complutense University in Madrid. Basque Language and Culture and taught through four classes Euskera I, Euskera II, Euskera III y Euskera IV.  Students at the UCM who are pursuing any Bachelors or Masters Degree can take these subjects and get 6 credits for each one. Those enrolled in Euskera III and IV also have the opportunity to take the Basque Government’s official exams to attain the B1, B2, and C1 levels.

Jesús Maestro Official Language School. Levels A1, A2, B1, B2, and C1.  In person classes take place twice a week in the afternoon, lasting two and a half hours each, from mid-September through April.  Applications for admission will be accepted through July 5th, having to prove the level through degrees. There are also improvement courses offered in a hybrid madder with classes taking place once a week.  Questions can be emailed to euskera@eoijesusmaestro.es.
