In Argentina, Askatasunaren Bidea has been spreading the Basque culture in San Miguel, Muñiz and Bella Vista for four years. With this goal in mind, it organizes activities like talks, meetings and get-togethers in public spaces and outside. The institution also provides a Euskera workshop and keeps in touch with members and friends through a blog where it publishes articles on Basque culture, especially current events and the history of Navarra. This weekend it invites everyone to a film event where Secretos del Corazon (Secrets of the Heart) will be shown at the Historic Museum in San Miguel.

San Miguel, Argentina.  Basque cinema productions don’t usually make it to Argentina as part of commercial circuits and so that is why the Basque club strives to get works done by Basque in hopes of introducing them.  Their efforts are starting to bear fruit and film series are more and more frequent in the clubs.  Over the last few years names of directors and films that were previously unknown have now not only left an impression, but have become works of reference.

The Askatasunaren Bidea group invites moviegoers and the general public to come see Secretos del Corazon by Montxo Armendariz.  The movie will be shown this Saturday at 4pm at the Municipal Historic Museum in San Miguel (Av. Balbin in front of the Urquiza Railway platform). After the film, all present are invited to share a snack.  There will also be neckerchiefs and Navarrese flags available for those interested.

The group has also informed us that their Euskera workshop will continue this year.  These meetings that discuss linguistic and cultural contest are held on the third Friday of the month at 4-6pm, under the direction of Mariana Fernandez Casteilli.  Meetings are at the Domingo Faustino Sarmiento Municipal Library with a usual attendance of 10 students.

Askatasunaren Bidea stays in permanent contact with its members and followers through its blog.  Thanks to collaborators in Argentina and in the Basque Country, it is frequently updated, gathering articles on Basque culture and particularly those on Navarre.
