Aurresku, choirs and commemorative plaques at the 25th anniversary of the Eusko Biltzar Basque club in Cnel. Pringles

Organized by the local Basque community, the city of Coronel Pringles accompanied Eusko Biltzar at the celebration of its 25th anniversary.  During the ceremony, not only the history of the club was covered along with its founders, but also current activities were announced and the Basque choir and dantzaris performed.

Coronel Pringles, Argentina.  Located in the province of Buenos Aires, the Eusko Biltzar Basque club in Coronel Pringles turned 25 and celebrated on August 7 with a party that gathered a large number of club members and friends.  The ceremony began with some words from the club’s secretary, Mary Ibargoyen, on the importance of remembering the past and projecting for the future. An Aurresku was perfromed by Matias Casal, member of the Beti Dantzari Taldea.

In tribute to the past, members of the club unveiled two commemorative plaques.  On the one hand, club president, Juan J. Olasagastia, accompanied by Abel de Uriarte, Berta de Zabala and Martha Larralde de Iriarte, uncovered a plaque remembering club founders Abel G. de Uriarte, Ubaldo H. Zabala y Rodolfo  H. Iriarte. The other plaque was in tribute to Pedro Mariezcurrena, who owned the building before it became the clubhouse, and it was his children, Delia, Oscar, Julia and Patricia Mariezcurrena who were in charge of unveiling that one.  Both plaques were blessed by Fr. Nestor Mendiondo.

President Juan J. Olasagastia spoke who recap the club’s history and thanked everyone who participated in the boards of directors, and all the members and friends of the club.  Coronel Pringles’ mayor, Carlos Oreste, also addressed those present and highlighted the Basque presence in the area and above all the participation of the club in municipal activities.

The event closed with the Eusko Alaia choir singing some songs and finally all presented joined in a toast.
