Buenos Aires, Argentina.   As part of the Day of Immigrant celebration the National Directorate of Migration held an event to present the second edition of the book Nosotros, los que vinieron on September 4. The publication gathers more than 30 testimonies, history and anecdotes from people of different nationalities who have come to Argentina over the last few years to make it their home.

Aitor Alava, who is known by the local Basque community especially in the area of dances, has also included his story.  In his testimony, Aitor tells what life was like in Zuhatza, a small town in Araba, as well as his reasons for leaving the Basque Country and working in Argentina.  He talks about what it was like to adapt and what his life is currently like in regards to both work and family, along with his wife Marina and their daughter Maialen.

The book presentation took place at the Immigrant Museum and began with a parade of flags including the Ikurriña that was carried by Juan Carlos Ibarrola from the Buenos Aires Iparraldeko Euskal Etxea.  The National Anthem was then sung accompanied by the Naval Band that was followed by addresses by authorities present, including the Director of Migration, Martin Arias Duval.

During the event each person whose testimony was given received a copy of the book and then invited to enjoy the music and Senegalese, Colombian, and Galician dances.  A lunch was served to those honored and the audience following the ceremony.  Distinguished guests included Mariana Fernandez Castelli and the Vice-President of FEVA, Arantxa Anitua.
