Aitor Iñarra, NABO Euskera Coordinator, will talk about Basque teaching in the US at the Unanue Hotel in Donostia

Donostia-San Sebastián. As part of the cultural programming offered by EuskalKultura.com at the Hotel Heredad de Unanue, there will be a talk entitled “Aitor Iñarra: Testimony of a Donostiarra living in San Francisco,” tomorrow at 7:30pm.

The speaker, Aitor Iñarra (Donostia, 1971) has a degree in law and has served as a lawyer at the city council.  Iñarra left for San Francisco in 2005, where he still resides 14 years later.

In the United States, Aitor has worked in various professions, but maybe the most curious is as an actor, as he played a Basque in the film Hemingway & Gelhorn on HBO, that starred Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen, as well as in other productions.

Aitor is also a Basque teacher in the US, specifically at the San Francisco Basque Club since 2009. Since 2014, he has also served as the NABO Euskera Coordinator, with Martin Goicoechea as a chairman, managing Basque classes provided by  Basque clubs US, all supported by the Etxepare Basque Institute.

Tomorrow’s talk at the Hotel Heredad de Unanue may address topics like:

-What makes a young Basque travel to California and stay there
-The United States and life there from the point of view of a young Basque: opportunities and advantages
-Steps that a young Basque needs to take to stay in the US, difficulties and problems
-General presentation of Basque America: NABO and Basque clubs, NABO and Euskera
-Incursion in the world of cinema, testimony
-Contact with other Basque Country born Basque youth in the US

The talk will be on Thursday, March 21 at 7:30pm at the Hotel Heredad de Unanue, in Donostia-San Sebastia (Errotazahar Bidea, 142, 20018 Donostia), and is open to the public, admission is free.

The Hotel Heredad de Unanue and EuskalKultura.com organize this event as part of their cultural program that aims to spread and introduce the Basque audience to the reality of the Diaspora and the Basque presence in the world.
