The wonderful atmosphere experienced over the entire week in Macachin was also predominate during Sunday’s activities.  That is why it was difficult for organizers or guest alike, when it was time to say goodbye.  But as a consolation, Semana Vasca 2016 has a date and place and while we wait for November to come around again, we will see each other again in Necochea, and we leave you with the final images from Macachin.

Macachin, Argentina.   The last day of Semana Nacional began with mass and continued with dancing in the Plaza, this time in front of the Hotel Euzko Alkartasuna.  As part of Sunday’s show, there was also herri-kirolak this year with weightlifter, Jose Iruretagoiena from Gipuzkoa.

Lunch gathered more than 1,600 people, including Basque Government representatives as well as those from local institutions, dantzaris, companions and neighbors who so generously lodged visitors during the week.  In the afternoon, besides the award presentations for the Euskera contests, various authorities also exchanged gifts and Maral gave its last concert as part of the festivities.

EuskalKultura.com also says farewell to Semana Nacional 2015 with this article again thanking Euzko Alkartasuna and Valeria Garcia Oyarzabal for her photos.  The club has let us know however, that they will continue to post photos and videos on its wall on Facebook.

Rural sports are also an expression of Basque culture and so that’s why they were also included in the events.  Coming from Gipuzkoa, Jose Iruretagoiena did a weightlifting demonstration, lifting rocks weighing more than 100 kilograms.

Much can be said about Argentine dantzaris doing Basque dances, but it’s better to see them.
