A conference in Gasteiz will analyze the role of guilds and brotherhoods in America from the 16th to the 19th centuries

The College of Liberal Arts at the University of the Basque Country in Vitoria-Gasteiz will be the site on November 20 and 21 of an international conference entitled, “Devotion and Peasantry: The Brotherhoods, Congregations, and Hospitals for those originally from Spain in America, in the 16-19th centuries.” The event will be attended by experts from the University of the Basque Country as well as universities in Mexico, Argentina, Peru and Colombia among others. The organizing committee includes Alberto Angulo Morales, Oscar Alvarez Gila and Jon Ander Ramos Martinez.

Vitoria-Gasteiz.  Experts from both sides of the Atlantic will gather on the 20 and 21 of this month at the University of the Basque Country’s Vitoria-Gasteiz campus to participate in an international conference on the role of guilds and brotherhoods, in America as well as in Spain from the 16th to the 19th century, according to information sent by event organizers to EuskalKultura.com.

The conference was organized by the University of the Basque Country and sessions will take place in the Salon de Grados in the College of Liberal Arts.  Conference program follows:
