The Basque-Argentine club Gure Txokoa has now included a new activity in its cultural offering, a singing workshop from which a bilingual choir will be formed in Spanish and Basque. The Annual General Assembly at Laurak Bat in Buenos Aires was held on Saturday, April 27th that included board elections. After the elections, the current board was re-elected led by Arantxa Anitua as president, Maria Antonia Barquin as vice-president, secretary Arantxa Goicoa; pro-secretary Miren Arozarena; Treasurer Mikel Huguet; and pro-treasurer Ramon Arozarena.

Aberri Eguna or the Day of the Basque Homeland is one of the dates marked in red on the calendar of several Basque clubs; although in the Diaspora it is usually celebrated after Easter Sunday, its official date in Euskadi. This year, activities are scheduled through the month of April in some cases, even in May, always in hopes of expressing Basque membership.

After a period of remodeling, the Euzko Alkartasuna Hotel, the clubhouse for the Basque club of the same name in Macachin, re-inaugurated its restaurant on April 13th, naming it “Iñaki.” The remodeling, as reported to EuskalKultura.com by those responsible for the hotel, included building improvements in the salon, new decorations and a revised menu. Screenings began last Sunday in the Argentine province of Misiones, with the director of Dantza, Telmo Esnal participating in the Co-Cine “Between Borders,” Film Festival in Posadas.
