Some were more traditional while others were more daring, incorporating new trends and styles. In any case, all of Argentina’s dance groups were influenced in some way by Maria Julia Ercoreca, reference for Basque dancing for many years on this side of the ocean. That’s why the special evening event was more like a tribute to her for her unconditional support and contributions to keep one of the most significant artistic expressions of Euskal Herria alive, its dances. Twenty five dance groups performed on Saturday at the Paris Theater and demonstrated clearly that the seed that Marita had sown has grown and given fruit.

Various forms of Basque culture were experienced during Semana Vasca in Necochea, among them was the traditional Danborrada from Donostia.
