The “Baskos of the Confluence,” Basque Club founded in 2016 has spent two years providing activities to spread the culture of Euskal Herria in Neuquen and Cipolleti. Since last April, it has done so with a new legal status as an association with legal entity, Zorionak! This now opens a new range of possibilities when it comes to organizing and participating in events.

Last Friday, Cesar Arrondo gave a talk to present Hipolito Yrigoyen. First 100 Years of Popular Sovereignty at the Gure Txokoa Basque Club in Azul. Some 30 people accompanied the writer and the board of directors at the event. Various local media also covered it and interview Arrondo to publicize the event.

The future is won fighting for it and the New England Basque Club has not hesitated to put all their eggs in one basket and embark on the organization of its first big Basque Festival in New London, downtown on the waterfront. Even if the big day is Saturday, on Friday afternoon they will also have a warm-up pintxo-pote something that has never been seen in these parts. On Saturday, the program will run from 11am-8pm and will include pintxos, traditional dishes, music, cider, dance performances and herri kirolak, a parade….

“Euskarabentrua,” is an expedition of 120 Basque speaking youth between the ages of 16-17 who will tour the Basque Country during the month of July. The call for eligible participants was also extended ot the Diaspora, a large part of which were thanks to EuskalKultura.com. Imanol Basterra read the notice in our newsletter, and applied, and was selected as the representative of the Southern Cone. Imanol is dantzari, and an advanced Euskera student at the Aberri Etxea Basque Club in Viedma/Carmen de Patagones. Zorionak, Ima!

The new “Amalur” restaurant will be more than just a gastronomic proposal. In fact, diners will be able to enjoy various cultural manifestations at the heart of the Basque Club. If we refer to the menu, the stars in the kitchen at “Amalur” will be fish and seafood. “And the best tortilla in Buenos Aires,” Chef Shanti Aboitiz affirms.

The Euskal Etxea held its big annual event on June 10th with the celebration of its 22nd birthday. The event began with welcoming their guests and an “Aurresku,” performed by youth from the “Gure Talde Alaia,” dance group. The main dish at lunch was a gigantic paella.

The University of Oxford is hosting today and tomorrow, June 20-21, its “Forum for Iberian Studies,” that is celebrating its 18th edition this year. This biannual conference is dedicated to the study of different languages and cultural expressions from the Iberian Peninsula gathering more than 50 experts. The Basque writer, Kirmen Uribe, will give one of the main talks, according to the Etxepare Basque Institute who is collaborating in the event.

The recently formed trio is starting to be known on local stages and tomorrow, Thursday, June 21st they will perform at the Facundo Cabral Hall at the Celta Bar. “Indarra Trio,” isn’t just a Basque name, but German Arriazu, euskaltzale and Basque speaker is preparing Basque Country music classics to include in its repertoire.
