The celebration of the Day of the Basque Diaspora in Donostia began at noon with some 50 individuals attending, in a gathering organized by EuskalKultura.com. In this first edition, the best format and simplest, was gathering everyone for lunch so that people from different countries in the Basque Diaspora could meet and share a fun day in festive vindication of the reality of our Diaspora.

Beginning today we will publish a series of articles about the various Day of the Basque Diaspora celebrations that took place around the world and the success they enjoyed. Beginning in the Basque Country we include two articles about events that took place at the Lehendakaritza in Vitoria-Gasteiz and at the Hotel Heredad de Unanue in Donostia. The first edition has set the path for future editions with an eye on the Diaspora deservedly recognizing its reality and its contributions, in Euskadi as well as around the world.

Liberoamerica is a new Ibero-American Publisher, “horizontal and self-managed,” funded by Argentineans Cecilia Resiale and Lucía Bima and Dario Zalgade from Canarias. The book debut of the new business was 80 Contemporary Poets, an anthology of feminist poetry that was presented and received enthusiastically last June in Argentina and Uruguay.

The goal is to rescue scores that have not been played, release them and disseminate them. The Andres Egiguren Orchestra and the Archive of the Augustineans in Madina’s home town have brought the project to light with this proposition. Aita Madina was assigned in 1931, to Salta and developed an important part of his create work in Argentina and the US where he lived for nearly a quarter century and a dozen years respectively. The tutorial, a short film “A recipe almost as old as the mate hole,” is a project of Fernanda Sanjurio Olavarria, A/V producer from Uruguay that has lived in Argentina for the last two years. As much from Rio Plata as the star drink of the film, Fernanda has had to explain innumerable times to outsiders what mate is, thus the origin of the project.
