Next Wednesday is the deadline for Basque creators and agents from the Autonomous Basque Community who strive to internationalize their works and who promote the diffusion of Basque film and literature in 2018 to apply. The aim of these travel stipends, provided by the Etxepare Basque Institute is to collaborate in this effort of diffusion and introducing Basque production abroad.

The coastal city, Mar del Plata, will be the site next November 2nd, of the Inter-Congressional meeting of Basque clubs in Central and South America in preparation for the Congress of Basque Collectivities that will be held in Bilbao in October next year. Representatives from a dozen Latin American countries have been invited to the meeting that will also be attended by Lehendakari Urkullu.

Euskal Dantzarien Biltzarra (EDB), the federation of Basque dance groups in Euskal Herria, will visit Argentina next week, thanks to its president, Joseba Altube who will give talks in both Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata about “Traditional Basque Dance.” Altube will discuss the panoramic view of traditional dance in Euskal Herria and the variety of groups that perform them.

The annual Basque Dance and Music Festival organized by the Urrundik Basque Association in Parana took place on October 7th at the Theater 3 de Febrero. The event was attended by a large audience who enjoyed the art of Joseba Gotzon, singer from Bizkaia, who presented his album Desiraren Kaia (Port of Desire) in September in Mexico, and did the same at Basque clubs in Argentina.

The trip will run from October 31-November 6th. This is the first trip that Urkullu will make to Argentina and the Southern Cone since taking office. The trip will provide the Lehendakari the opportunity to hold meetings and get to know Basque communities in both countries. Urkullu will participate in Semana Nacional Vasca 2018 in Mar del Plata coinciding with the local club’s 75th anniversary.
