The Euskal Etxea in Madrid has once again organized its Video Contest open to club members who submit their works by April 10. Submissions should not be longer than 5 minutes and have to be in Basque, in mov, avi or mp4 format. The deadline is April 10, with submissions being viewed on April 11 at the Pello Aramburu room at the Basque club beginning at 7:30pm.

The meeting took place on March 7th at the Municipal Sports Complex, where representatives of the Basque club and local authorities had dinner together. During more than two hours, members of the Eusko Aterpea board of directors talked with the authorities and reminded Mayor, Dario Kubar, of some of the pending topics that the city has for the local Basque community.

The city of Tres Arroyos celebrated another edition of the Provincial Wheat Festival, in 2019 with a special focus as the festival celebrated its 50th birthday. The events ran March 6-10 with a varied program of activities and top-notch entertainment. The Basque club also participated in the program, at the inauguration event as well as by providing food, shows and popular dancing.

After thirty years in the same place, the Basque Club in Lima moved to a new locale at the end of February. According to Xabi Gil, club reference, “we rented a place for 30 years, but couldn’t renew the lease; we think they are going to sell it. In any case, we had to move to a new place nearby, in the same neighborhood and are already up and running as normal.”

Recently appointed as the coach of the Euskal Selekzioa, the Basque soccer selection, Javier Clemente, has shown that he is posetively in favor of incorporating players from the Diaspora on the team.
