34 Euskal Etxeas from all over the world are part today of the 400 readers of 100% Basque at the Arriaga in Bilbao

Throughout today some 400 people will participate in the tenth edition of Classics Reading organized every year by the Bilbo Zaharra Euskaltegi in Bilbao.  The chosen title this year is 100% Basque by Itxaro Borda from Behe-Nafarroa and its readers will include people of all kinds, age and condition, physically at the Arriaga Theater, as well as other who will participate via video.  34 Basque clubs, Basque speakers and students from all over the world will be represented. 

Bilbao, Bizkaia.  Among those going to the Arriaga to read the work, will be the author herself, Itxaro Borda, politicians, and institutional representatives from the Lehendakari to the mayor of Bilbao, as well as the Deputy General of Bizkaia, the president of Euskaltzaindia and the presidents of the University of Deusto as well as the University of the Basque Country.  Others include members of business organizations, students, athletes, workers and personalities form the world of culture, a full range of people, some better known than others, contributing and explaining their support for this initiative in favor of reading in the Basque language.

The work chosen for the 10th edition is 100% Basque by Itxaro Borda, a female author from Iparralde, not conventional, an orthodox who has broken molds in Basque literature..  Borda herself will be in charge of beginning the reading this year.

As in prior editions, the Diaspora, as an integral part of Euskera instruction and the Euskaltegi movement, will also play an important role today with readers from 34 Basque clubs from around the world, as well as some from some universities and other places where Basque classes are taught.

After 12 hours of reading, today will conclude with a dance outside of the Arriaga Theater in Bilbao.
