Argentina and the Southern America are in the middle of summer, but as far as Basque goes, there is no break for teachers and students. On the one hand, the summer barnetegi continues (will end this Friday, followed by a new course on Saturday and Sunday) in San Nicolas, in the province of Buenos Aires, with Basque students / teachers from Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and Argentina. After the weekend, a “topaketa” (gathering) will take place on Monday at Euskaltzaleak in Buenos Aires, even though this call will be special, since Euskaltzaleak will then receive 2013's ENE award presented to them on December 3rd by Eusko Ikaskuntza-Society of Basque Studies.

Buenos Aires, Argentina. The presentation of the ENE Saria (ENE, Euskararen Nazioarteko Eguna – International Day of Euskera) will take place on Monday January 27th at 20:00 at the Euskaltzaleak clubhouse as part of its first “topaketa” of 2014.  Kinku Zinkunegi, coordinator or HABE’s Euskara Munduan program is in Argentina teaching classes at the summer barnetegi and will also give a talk on the situation of Basque in the Diaspora and his experience in this regard.  Afterwards he will present the ENE Saria to Euskaltzaleak Basque Language School in Buenos Aires, on behalf of the Basque Country based Eusko Ikaskuntza-Society of Basque Studies institution.

This will give way to “topaketa.” We would like to remind you that Euskaltzaleak organizes every year many 'topaketak' like this in hopes that its members and friends will have a chance to practice Basque and converse in a Basque atmosphere, complete with good food that is usually a selection of pintxos and dishes Basque Country style.

Euskaltzaleak’s Facebook page invites everyone wanting to attend to come to their headquarters at Bernardo Irigoyen 826, CABA.  “The first topaketa of the year will include various pintxos: with special combined flavors; and traditional tortilla with chorizo or peppers.  Reserve your spot.  There will also be t-shirts, pins, pendants, key chains, tiles, thermos, ikurriñas, aprons, embroidery, CDs, videos, rubbings, maps, and books available…for more information euskaltzaleak@yahoo.com.ar."
