'Hegoak' also called 'Txoriak txori' is a beautiful song that belongs to the Basque repertoire of many people and also Basque and non Basque choirs all over the world. It has lyrics written by poet Joxanton Artze and music by Mikel Laboa: Hegoak ebaki banizkion/If I had cut its wings, Nerea izango zen/it would have been mine, Ez zuen alde egingo/it would not have scaped, Baina honela/Baina that way, Ez zen gehiago txoria izango/it would not habe anymore a bird, Eta nik/and me..., Txoria nuen maite/it's the bird what I loved.
