Three Californian Basques of (Lower and Upper) Navarrese descent, Andrea Miren Bidart, Begoña Echeverria and Cathy Petrissans established the group Noka as a significant step after years of being members of various Basque groups in the City of Chino in Southern California. In 1999 they recorded a CD (entitled Noka) together with some other Basque American musicians of the LA area like Martie Echito (guitar, piano, keyboards, percussion, base and sound tech.), John Ehlis (mandolin), Regina Flores (flute), Rosemarie Iturburua (accordion) and Darrin Schuck (guitar). Besides traditional and modern songs, their second CD includes some 'Noka made' lyrics. The Group mainly performs in California, where they have the most fans, but they are also known in other Western states and in the Basque Country as well.
