Elko Arinak is really made up of three dance groups comprised of dancers of different ages. The first group is for dancers ages 4-6, the next 7-12, and the last from ages 13-18. Marquitta Samper, Alusa Aguirre Pirtle and Valerie Aguirre Alt direct the first two groups with Maite Ugalde directing the older dancers. Singing instructor is Maite Uriaguereca Moiola.

The Elko Arinak were founded in 1966 with 25 members and Rossana Aguirre as its first president. Its first instructors were Anamari Arbillaga and Fliesa Basanez. Practices were held either in Mildred Bilbao’s backyard or on the patio and a cassette recording of Jimmy Jausoro provided the music. Later they moved to the Catholic Church’s basement and were then accompanied by Bernardo Yanci from Lesaka. Their first out of town performance took place in Ely Nevada but they have traveled all over the west to perform.
