The New England Basque Club keeps the tradition of Txitxiburduntzi Eguna alive. Txitxiburduntzi Eguna is celebrated in several places in the Basque Country before Lent, specifically on the Sunday before Carnival. In addition, it is primarily celebrated in Bizkaia. Traditionally on that day, people go to the mountains, and buld a fire where they BBQ meat (txitxi), chorizo, txistorra among others, skewered on a stick (burduntzi or burruntzi) (photoNew England EE)
