NATIONAL MUS CHAMPIONSHIP IN ARGENTINA

The other piece of news related to the world of Mus comes to us from the city of Laprida, in the province of Buenos Aires, inviting everyone to the National Mus Championships that will be held August 13-15.  The event, organized by the local Lagunen Etxea Basque club, will be in memory of recently deceased muslari, Bernardo Merzdorf, “who was a fervent participant in these tournaments,” according to the organizers.

The cost of the tournament is $600 per Basque club, allowing the hosting institution, as winner of last year’s tournament, to have two teams, while the rest of the clubs will only have one.

In the same way, as explained to EuskalKultura.com, by the director of Mus at Lagunen Etxea, Edgardo Larraza, during the national tournament, a parallel tournament will also take place, organized especially for the companions of the Mus players and for locals.  “This year we hope to gather 40 teams,” he said.  The cost to participate in this tournament is $600 and the prize, is a portion of the funds gathered.  The games as well as the meals will take place at the Laprida social club.

Remember that the winning team will represent Argentina at the World Mus Tournament that will take place in Donostia in October.
