Iparralde’s Basque Culture Institute (EKE), the Basque Writers Association and the Euskal Itsasbazterreko (IAEZI) have opened the call for applications for a literary sojourn, a scholarship that allows the winning Basque writer a month-long stay at the Nekatonea house in Hendaia, where he/she can dedicate himself/herself to writing at his/her leisure. The scholarship also includes a stipend of 1,000 Euros. The stay would take place during the month of October and the application deadline will end on March 15th. Last year’s winner was Fernando Morillo.

Hendaia, Lapurdi.  The literary residency scholarship organized by the Iparralde’s Basque Culture Institute (EKE), the Basque Writers Association and the Euskal Itsasbazterreko (IAEZI) is aimed at all writers who write in Basque.  The stay will take place between October 1-November 4, 2012, at the Nekatonea house in Hendaia.  There, the winning author will enjoy the use of the residence-workshop and will also receive 1,000 Euros.

Candidates should send their proposals before March 15, including the two parts of the scholarship:

-Creative writing: the style and format of the work is up to the author, as long as it is in Basque.  Nevertheless, the work must conform to the parameters of the program “Hogei’ta” supported by EKE (see www.hogetia.com).

-Meeting with high school and college students about the work (late 2012 or early 2013).
