The main goal of the activity is the parents and family members can see for themselves what the children learn at the club and the fun that they have.  “But we also have another goal, that is to attract these children’s parents, that is to say, so the adults also come to the club,” club president Francisco Urbieta explained to EuskalKultura.com.  The next event at Hiru Erreka will be the celebration of San Fermin this Friday, July 8.

Tres Arroyos, Argentina.   The club, founded in 1999, has a large group of children and intermediates that is especially well taken care of by the club since they are the future of the euskal etxea.  Nevertheless, the board realizes that the involvement of the family is also very important to keeping the club going, and so on June 17th they held a Dantzari and Family gathering.

The event began with the presentation of the participants, the parents and children alike in Euskera, “just like we do at practice,” they said.  Later they invited the adults to participate in dances and games having to do with the culture that are usually played with the children.

Afterwards, the club dancers performed “Lantzeko Inauteria,” that was previously explained to the audience.  At noon, lunch was served and afterwards there was entertainment with each group doing an informal presentation of the dances showing everyone what they had learned.

In the words of Francisco Urbieta, club president, “the event was perfect to integrate the families; it was wonderful to see how proud the children were of their parents’ and grandparents’ participation in the dances and games, immersed in Basque culture.  They also had the chance to show off what they had learned, not just in Euskera but also in dance.  Without a doubt we will continue supporting these links to continue to grow our club.”

San Fermín and Independence Day

The next activity that the club will host will be the San Fermin celebration along with the Bicentennial of the Argentina’s Declaration of Independence.  On Friday, July 9 at noon, the rocket will be launched at the San Martin Plaza, in front of city hall.  At night there will be dinner with typical dishes, dancing, euskera and a bota contest.  Tickets cost $200 (without beverages).  Anyone interested can get more information from the club by calling: 02983 421121, or via email: hiruerrekatresarroyos@hotmail.com.ar or on Facebook Hiru Erreka Tres Arroyos.
