Chacabuco, Argentina. The Guillermo Larregui Basque club in Chacabuco celebrated 21 years with an intimate reunion respecting the Coronavirus restrictions where members of the board of directors shared some pintxos and a cake prepared for the occasion.  During the event club president, Lucia Igarzabal, stressed the work that the institution has been doing and thanked the board for supporting each initiative that is carried out.  Greetings were received from the local Mayor, Victor Aiola, through the Director of Institutional Relations, Jorgelina Soñez.

As part of the celebration, Igarzabal inaugurated a new space at the clubhouse, an area named “Gure Txokoa,” (Our Corner).  It includes “a regular meeting place where you can play mus, hold committee meetings, talks, workshops and share our culture with new friends who can get closer to being part of the center in this way," she explained.

“Gure Txokoa,” was built on a recovered space in the mezzanine, it has two small terraces and the capacity for about 30 people.  “The idea is to give added value to the club and generate greater circulation of people, when sanitary conditions allow it,” Igarzabal explained.  She stressed that the remodeling was done by the Basque club members and thanked Heber Rodriguez and Pablo Pavesa especially “for being the head of the team.”

The “Gure Txoko,” at the Guillermo Larregui Basque Club will function as Basque societies, “in a cooperative way as they do in the Old Country.”
