The Eusko Biltzar in Coronel Pringles will open a Basque conceptual jewelry exhibit this Saturday. The pieces featured in the show were created by students in the workshop held at the Lagunen Etxea Basque club in Laprida during the 2012 school year. These classes were taught by Professor Silvia Azpiazu, who encouraged the students to draw inspiration from Basque sculptors like Basterretxea and Ibarrola when creating their jewelry.

Coronel Pringels, Argentina.  This Saturday, February 23, the Eusko Biltzar Basque club in Coronel Pringels will open its doors to their friends from the Laprida Lagunen Etxea, to share the opening of the exhibition of Basque conceptual jewelry made by Silvia Azpiazu’s students. The show “reflects the characteristics and particularities of Basque sculptors that have permeated the Basque Country as well as the Diaspora,” according to Eusko Biltzar sources.

The works to be displayed in Coronel Pringles were presented for the first time in Laprida on 28 December, in the final exhibition of the Basque jewelry course taught at the center. This workshop is not limited to jewelry techniques, but sought to offer its students a channel of expression, including painting and sculpture, for example. Thus, during the course students studied Basque culture and reflected on the works of sculptors like Basterretxea and Ibarrola, hoping to weave the sensations that they received from these into their jewelry.
