Bilbao, Bizkaia.  Bilbao was one of the cities of the world selected to be in its own pavilion at the International Exposition in Shanghai in 2010.  Besides showing the city’s transformation at the end of the twentieth century, the Basque capital took Basque culture and character with it to the other end of the world.  For this reason, the Shanghai Basque club wanted to award the prize to Bilbao’s Town hall.

The award will be presented in a ceremony that will take place at Bilbao’s town hall tomorrow, Thursday December 27.  It will begin at 12:15 with a group photo with members of the Basque club and representatives of Bilbao on the town hall steps.  After the ceremony a reception will be held and the event will conclude with the presentation of the award.  There will also be a txakoli tasting.
