The Council of the Basque Government gave the green light for the 2016 call for grants for Basque clubs and federations with a total budget of 862,307 Euros, an 80,000 Euro increase from last year. In a few days, the call will appear in the Official Bulletin of the Basque Country (BOPV-EHAA) making the deadline for applications, one month from the day after its publication.

Vitoria-Gasteiz.   The Basque Government gave last Tuesday the green light for 2016 grants for Basque clubs, federations and confederations of Basque clubs around the world, through the Secretary General of Foreign action and the Directorate for the Basque Community Abroad.

The total budget is 862,307 Euros that reflects an 80,000 Euro increase from last year.  Monies will be divided between the two chapters included in the grant: the first part for operating expenses and organization of activities, and the second for infrastructure and equipment.

The majority of these grants, 782,307 Euros will go to support annual programs or activities carried out by the Euskal Etxea, preferably in the area of youth, women, external image and communication, and recuperation of the historic memory, as well as operating expenses.

The rest, 80,000 Euros, will go to total or partial funding, expenses and activities that contribute to the improvement of clubhouses, such as repairs of damages due to catastrophes; elimination of architectural barriers; new clubhouse construction; creating spaces for youth; or introduction of technology to carry out activities for youth and women.

Yesterday’s budget approval is open to 190 Basque clubs and federations that are found in 25 countries around the world.  Deadline to apply will be a month from its publication in the BOPV-EHAA in a few days.
