Among the Basque proposals there will be a exhibit of traditional clothing, “Gure Arropa,” that will be inaugurated on Saturday with Magdalena Mignaburu, and a talk “Basque Pelota,” on Sunday by Enrique Poittevin, president of FIVU, the Federation of Basque Institutions in Uruguay.

Carmelo, Uruguay.   The Ibai Ondoko Etxea Basque club will celebrate its 21st birthday on Sunday the 17th, and will do so with two interesting activities of interest to the public.  Both events are also part of the city of Carmelo’s bicentennial festivities.

On Saturday the 16th at 7pm the Basque club will inaugurate the “Gure Arropa” (Our Clothes) exhibit, a collection of traditional garments gathered by Argentine Professor Magdalena Mignaburu.  The exhibit includes 28 models with their respective accessories, and has been declared of Ministerial Interest and will be presented by Mignaburu herself, who will travel to Carmelo for the occasion.  The event will take place at the Basque club at 26 de Mayo 427, where it can be viewed until Monday the 18th.

On Sunday the 17th, also at 7pm, the president of FIVU, Enrique Poittevin Gilmet, will give a talk entitled, “Basque Pelota.”  Along with the talk the hosting club will pay tribute to the memory of illustrious local pelotaris, Banchero and Debenedetti who represented Uruguay at world events disputed in 1958 and 1962.  The conference will also take place at the Basque club.
