The ballot to be presented at FEVA’s Assembly has been confirmed: Hugo Andiazabal is running for president

With the deadline passed, only one list of candidates has been presented to cover the positions that will be voted on at FEVA’s next Assembly. The list is led by Hugo Andiazabal, candidate for president, along with Javier Ederra, secretary, and Pedro Mauregui Larranda as treasurer. Once the elections have concluded, Asier Vallejo, director of Basque Communities Abroad and Sara Pagola, Delegate of Euskadi in Argentina-Mercosur will visit the Assembly on behalf of the Basque Government. FEVA’s General Assembly will take place on April 26th at the Laurak Bat Basque club in Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires, Argentina.  Representatives of Basque clubs belonging to FEVA have the possibility next April 26th to elect new officers to the board including a new president.  Only one ballot has been submitted with Hugo Andiazabal, current FEVA treasurer running for president.

According to the FEVA statutes, the following will be elected this year, president, secretary, treasurer and four directors to serve during 2014-16, as well as the account revisers who serve for a year.

The ballot presented includes:

-President: Hugo Andiazabal, Arbola Bat, Junín (two years)
-Secretary: Javier Ederra, Unión Vasca, Bahía Blanca (two years)
-Treasurer: Pedro Mauregui Larranda, Zingirako Euskaldunak, Chascomús (two years)

-Director: Marta Abarrategui, Euskaldunak Denak Bat, Arrecifes (two years)
-Alternate: Ana Victoria Idígoras, Euskaldunak Denak Bat, Arrecifes (two years)

-Director: Verónica Zulaica, Denak Bat, Cañuelas (two years)
-Alternate: Catalina Etchevers, Denak Bat, Cañuelas (two years)

-Director: Cristina Arregui, Zazpirak Bat, Rosario (two years)
-Alternate: Alicia Igarzabal, Zazpirak Bat, Rosario (two years)

-Director: María Susana Mendizabal, Gure Etxe Maitea, Olavarria (two years)
-Alternate: Hilda Isabel Eyherabide, Gure Etxe Maitea, Olavarria (two years)

-Account Reviser: Francisco Javier Zubillaga, Euzko Etxea, Necochea (one year)
-Account Reviser: Mónica Mercedes Azpiazu, Lagunen Etxea, Laprida (one year)

-Account Reviser: María Ángeles Oñederra, Toki Eder, José C. Paz (one year)

FEVA’s General Assembly will take place at the Laurak Bat Basque club in Buenos Aires on Saturday April 26th at 9:30am.  Once elections are over, the new authorities and Basque club representatives will also be visited by Delegate of Euskadi Sara Pagola, and the Director for the Basque Community Abroad, Asier Vallejo.

In regards to Vallejo’s official trip to South America, the Basque Delegation in Buenos Aires reports that Pagola and Vallejo will tour Basque clubs in Necochea, Mar del Plata and Chascomus between April 22-24th and on April 26th they will attend the Buenos Aires Book Fair.

While there, they will also participate in the presentation of the book Patria Vasca en Argentina (The Basque Homeland in Argentina) by Magdalena Mignaburu.  On April 28th they will leave for Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil to meet with the Basque community there.
