The Gure Txokoa in Azul, in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, celebrated its 20th birthday with festivities that gathered not only local community members, but also visitors from Basque clubs in Olavarria and Rauch. The program included the celebration of San Fermin and mass where Monsignor Hugo Manuel Salaberry, Bishop of the Diocese of Azul, was made an honorary club member.

Azul, Argentina.  The triple festivities on July 8th included mass at the Cahtedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, celebrated for San Fermin by Monsignor Hugo Manuel Salaberry, who was joined by euskal etxea members for the collection and doing the readings.  Once mass was over, the community prayed the Hail Mary in Basque and in Spanish and the club made the bishop an honorary member of the institution.

The anniversary dinner took place on Tuesday the 8th at the Gran Hotel in Azul.  During the event, that gathered a large number of the club’s friends, presentations were made to the former presidents, and representatives of the Gure Etxe Maitea in Olavarria and the Gure Txokoa in Rauch, as well as to FEVA.

The dantzaris from the euskal etxea in Rauch danced the Aurresku as part of the evening’s entertainment and a film on the first twenty years of the club was also shown as well as and Argentina’s independence was also remembered  The party lasted into the night with music, dance  and a boat full of red wine that invited the most skilled to excel in the art of drinking from it.
