Mallorca, Spain. Every year, “Day of the Balearic Islands” is celebrated and the Artea Basque Club in Mallorca usually participates at the fair with a stand. Their hope is to “make our activities more visible and present our culture to the local society that welcomes us, while facilitate the approach of Basques and Navarrese who are passing through, or who have come to work here,” Angel Luis Merlo explained to EuskalKultura.eus.

“At our stand we offer txakoli, beer, read wine and non-alcoholic refreshments. Pintxos with crab, morcilla, Idiazabal cheese, goat cheese, txistorra, gildas…all joyfully and in good humor accompanied by our music.” “The economic result is not very large, but we are satisfied because this type of work done in common serves to bring the club members closer together and to generate an atmosphere of camaraderie and fraternity,” Merlo summarizes.
