The idea of creating the .eus domain was born in 2007, and it has been added little by little until 2012, when through the PuntuEus Foundation presented an official request to ICANN. Many people and groups in the Basque Diaspora have supported the project, like the Center for Basque Studies in Reno, NABO, FEVA, FIVU as well as Basque clubs in countries like Venezuela, Mexico or Chile among others.
The .EUS domain was finally approved on June 104, 2013. The PuntuEus Foundation is a private entity, non-profit entity that is responsible of the control, administration and management of the .eus domain.
